Johanna is currently engaged as Manager of Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience at the South Australia Fire and Emergency Services Commission.

 

She was previously a Senior Policy Officer with the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria and Emergency Management Victoria. Prior to that she was Executive Officer at the Torrens Resilience Initiative in South Australia, which is part of Flinders University and Australia's oldest research entity on disasters.

 

She is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Public Safety and holds a Masters of Emergency Management with Charles Sturt University and a Post Grad in Terrorism and Security Studies.

She has been invited to speak at multiple conferences throughout Australia on the topic of cultural heritage and disasters, their role in social connectedness and the engagement between researchers and public policy development. 

 

She also ran her own public relations and events company in Western Australia and the UK for a number of years. 

She is a mother of two, dog, cat, rabbit and guinea pig owner, chronic coffee drinker, lover of books and hater of cheese. She also advocates for women with ADHD. She lives in the Adelaide Hills.
